Guarantee the right of every person to interact, to enjoy the company and the support of other individuals. Under this initiative the Som Base Association promotes the recognition as a Universal Right of Affective Accompaniment DA+.
The Som Base Associationformed by political volunteersbegan, at the end of 2019, the writing a pioneering project for guarantee the Right to Accompaniment Affectiveknown as DA+. This right states that “all people have right to interact and be treated with affection. To feel accompanied and that this relationship, between equals, is affective: free, bilateral, direct, respectful and consented«, with the aim of eradicating . In this sense, Som Base works for the recognition of this right at all levels: local, national and international; and make it recognized as a Universal Human Right.

After many months of work and having obtained the recognition and adhesion of multiple entities and social federations of reference, as well as the complicity of the entire political sphere, Maurici Blancafortlawyer and volunteer of Amics de la Gent Gran (Friends of the Elderly) for more than 30 years, one of the founders and coordinator of Som Base, appeared before the Social Affairs Commission in the Congress of Deputies to publicize the Right to Affective Accompaniment, the DA+.
In his speech, he urged all parliamentary groups to present, for the first time with unanimous consensus, a Non-Law Proposal (PNL) to be approved by the plenary session of Congress, thus recognizing the and opening the way so that it can be recognized as a Universal Right.
Along the same lines, in the plenary session of the of April 30, a Institutional declaration of recognition of DA+. With the consensus of all the municipal groups, the Right to Affective Accompaniment DA+ to the municipal plenary session, so that, given that the DA+ was born in the Gracia neighborhood of Barcelona, Barcelona is the first city to recognize this right for citizens and work on the development of regulations to ensure compliance.
The presentation of the Institutional Declaration at the Barcelona City Council marks the start for DA+ to reach municipal institutions throughout the country. Contacts and negotiations have already begun with other city councils, associations of municipalities and, shortly, the presentations of the Institutional Declaration will also take place in the different municipal plenary sessions, such as that of the Sabadell City Council. It is also expected to present the proposal to the Parliament of Catalonia, once the government is constituted, as well as in other legislative chambers of the Spanish territory.
On this road to Implementation of the Right to Affective Accompaniment DA+, It has the support of other associations, entities and people with a relevant social role, who see the need for this Law. Among these are Amics de la Gent Gran, Avismón, Cáritas, Cruz Roja, Fundació Roure, Pere Tarrés, Fundación Mémora and the federations FATEC, FCV and Third Sector, etc. Some of them actively participate in the initiative and different representatives are part of the working group, in order to develop objectives and write a first draft for a future Law on the Right to Accompaniment DA+.
One of the achievements of the DA+ is having the approval of all political forces, without distinction of acronymsbecause “eradicate unwanted loneliness in favor of Affective Accompaniment is everyone’s business”.
