The Blue Lagoon is a film that was released in 1980 and is based on the novel “The Blue Lagoon”written by Henry De Vere Stacpoole. South Pacific, 1895. During the Victorian era, two children, 7-year-old Emmeline (Elva Josephson) and 9-year-old Richard Lestrange (Glenn Kohan), are passengers on a sailing ship making the Cape Horn route with their father. Richard (William Daniels), since Emmeline’s parents have died and acts as her uncle-father. A fire destroys the ship and kitchen boy Paddy (Leo McKern) takes the children in a lifeboat with him, but this causes them to be separated from the other survivors and left adrift. After days of aimlessness they arrive at a lush tropical island.

Paddy takes on the responsibility of looking after the young children, teaching them how to behave, how to get food, learn how to build a house etc. But Paddy discovers that on the other side of the island there is a tribe that performs human sacrifices. He tells the children not to go to the north of the island, because there is a “bad man”, and that from now on the law will be not to go near that place. Another law he imposes on them is not to eat red berries (they are poisonous) after catching Emmeline about to eat one.
Paddy dies one night of drunkenness. At Emmeline’s request the two escape in a lifeboat looking for another place to live and build a new house next to a different beach. Six years later, (Christopher Atkins) and (Brooke Shields) are strong, beautiful teenagers. They live in the cabin they built and spend their days fishing and swimming. Their bodies grow and change with puberty, becoming physically attracted to each other, but they don’t know how to express their sexuality.
