The gesture you have to do every time you’re hungry if you want to lose weight

When they return from the holidays and with the need to resume their routine, many realize how little they have taken care of themselves in the summer period. That is why it is time to take charge of your health and make changes with a double objective: lose weight and improve your quality of life. Before Christmas arrives to disrupt our plans again, we have to get in shape. But the big question is how to do it. The first and most important thing is to start moving more. A few days ago we told you how you have to do to start changing your life. The key: start little by little gradually. For a start you should walk about 10,000 steps a day but reaching this goal will cost you so go step by step.

But that is not the only key. It is also important that the change is long-term. There are many miracle diets that promise results very soon (in just a few days). The problem is that those kilos come back as fast as they go. It is the well-known and hackneyed “rebound effect”. That is why it is essential that you put yourself in the hands of expert nutritionists. They will help you with the small (or big) changes you have to make in your life. One of these professionals is Miquel Girones, a Catalan very followed on social networks who gave a trick a few days ago and told us about the gesture you have to do every time you’re hungry if you want to lose weight: you have to drink a drink of water. As simple as that. Drinking water helps you satisfy your appetite and is also very good for your health.

Remember that doctors recommend that you drink about two liters of water every day. That will improve your health and your intestinal transit. Remember that you have to drink (especially in winter) even if you are not thirsty. “Water is not going to fool your body if you are really physically hungry, the body is not stupid”, adds Girones. The fact is that there are two types of hunger: the psychological one (eating even for anxiety) and the real one, which shows that calories are needed for the body. “If it is physical hunger after the glass of water you will still be hungry so go ahead but if it is emotional hunger due to boredom, anxiety, tiredness or loneliness that glass of water that you drink will give you a minute to calm down, think and ask yourself what kind of hunger you have”, explains Girones, emphasizing that just one out of five times this trick works, you will already have significantly reduced the calories you put into your body per week. “Sometimes we don’t realize it, but snacking between meals adds more calories than we imagine”, he emphasizes.

But the tricks do not stop there. We tell you others that can also help you. First: change the beer at dinner and mid-afternoon for water. Second: replace sugar with other spices to sweeten your dishes and third and last (but certainly not least) switch to real food. Don’t you think that alone will work? It will give you an idea of what you should do.
