How to know if you have anxiety: 13 symptoms to detect it

The reasons may vary when anxiety occurs. How to detect it? Here we explain.

“Worrying symptoms of depression or anxiety are shown”said UNICEF representative Christian Skoog.

The COVID-19 health crisis has also caused serious economic damage to homes and to the rights of minors in health, education, equality and protection, who also suffer from an increase in domestic violence, poor nutrition and an increase in the digital divide.

All these ingredients, plus the tense situation that Colombia is experiencing due to more than 20 days of national strike, have caused stress and anxiety levels to increase.

It is a normal emotional response to situations that represent danger to us and that is why it is normal to feel it currently.but at times they intensify too much or they persist for prolonged periods of time and begin to interfere with daily activities, such as performance at work, school, and relationships between people. In Colombia, and in several Latin American countries, another phenomenon occurs that could be increasing anxiety levels in homes. and, particularly, in children and adolescents, and it is domestic violence.

“Due to the length of confinement, minors show signs of irritability, anxiety, depression, stress and lack of concentration, symptoms that also contributed to vulnerability to violence in their homes,” says the UNICEF representative cited above.

The official added that the increase in stress levels derived from the economic and food insecurity that many families have experienced during the pandemic contributed to children and adolescents facing more episodes of family violence.

And this situation is not very different with adults or parents.who have seen their income affected by the pandemic and the confinement has affected their mood, in addition to the uncertainty about the immediate future of the country in terms of employment, food supply, health, social security, pensions and citizen security.
