How to clean lenses

Warm water and liquid soap
The first thing you should do is wash your hands very well to avoid staining the lenses further. It is recommended that you wash your hands with neutral soap and dry them with a lint-free cloth.
Then, place the lenses under warm water with a gentle stream to clean away any dust and any other dirt that may have gotten on them.
Once you’ve done that, drop a drop of liquid soap or neutral detergent on each lens. Rub your fingers very gently on both sides of the lenses and, with that same soap, clean the frame, temples and nose pads very well.
After having cleaned all its parts well, run the lenses under warm tap water to remove any soap residue. Take care of the water pressure so that it does not damage the glass or the most delicate parts.
It is advisable to wipe the lenses with small movements and then dry them with a clean, lint-free cloth. An excellent option is to use tissue paper.
Something very important to keep in mind: Never wash your lenses with hot water because the treatments on the lenses will be ruined.
Other cleaning methods for lenses

Wet wipes
Another option to leave your lenses shiny without finger stains or dirt is to clean your lenses with disposable wet wipes. There are some made especially for lenses. Generally, they come packaged individually so that the product that moistens them does not dry out.
The advantage of these wipes is that you can carry them in your purse or backpack and use them anywhere you are and need to clean your lenses.
Very important: If you use this method, remember that you should never use any wipes other than those specifically for lenses. There are others on the market, such as baby ones or antibacterial ones, but their components are different and can ruin your glasses.
Lens cleaning solutions
A very efficient alternative is special cleaning fluids for lenses. By placing a few drops on each glass and with the help of a clean, lint-free cloth, you can clean your lenses perfectly without running the risk of damaging the glass.
Once you’ve done it, use a clean, dry cloth to finish drying them. They will look like new. Something essential that you should know is that you should never use liquids intended for another purpose, since they may contain greasy or corrosive substances.
Keep in mind that, for glasses that have anti-reflective coating, there are specific solutions to clean them. Do not use another product because they may affect the coating.
To dry the lenses, you can purchase microfiber cleaning cloths that dry the lenses very effectively.
White or apple cider vinegar
Vinegar is a product widely used in cleaning different devices and glasses are no exception.
The first thing you have to do is wet the lenses with cold water under a gentle stream. Then, rub a few drops of vinegar with your fingers and you will immediately notice that the dirt particles loosen. Finally, rinse them very well with cold water and dry them with a towel so that they do not leave lint or scratches.
How to clean polycarbonate lenses
Polycarbonate lenses need special treatment to take care of them and ensure that they are always impeccable. We tell you step by step:
- First, moisten the lenses and then clean them with a damp cloth with a small amount of toothpaste.
- Gently rub the paste onto the surface of the polycarbonate lenses in circular motions.
- Remove the toothpaste with a damp gauze or cloth and then rinse with plenty of warm water.
How to clean sunglasses
In the case of sunglasses, the alternative of cleaning them with soap and water is the least recommended. For this type of glasses, it is best to use special lens solutions.

Directly spray the cleaning solution or place a few drops on each lens. Then rub very gently with a damp cotton cloth and then rinse with warm water.
They will be super clean and, if you do this cleaning regularly, you will ensure that they do not suffer scratches or breaks in any of their parts.
