Because when they push that button, when they make those selfish decisions, they know that a lot of people are going to end up hurt. But they don’t care. Should they care?
In my case, due to immaturity, gullibility, because I believed that everyone had the same good faith, I went through life without armor, thinking that people had no bad faith. When you are of an age you are an idealist and it does not fit into your head that there are people who deliberately act treacherously.
In my experience of 43 years, today, all the people who have chosen this perverse and Machiavellian way of life end up paying for their vile attitude. Although they see the day when they will pay for their actions very far away, they do not care, because they are short-termists and, at first, they do not care what happens to them in the future, because they see it very far away. It is true, when you are 18 years old you see 40 as too far away, until one day you have it too close, until they discover that they are alone and the world is, for them, an unfair place where they feel misunderstood, bitter, alone, and They no longer have anyone to harm, not like before, at least. The world is unfair, they insistently roar, and they are the best that exists, how can that happen to them?
I met a woman like that. What did she achieve? Did she not know that beauty is pilgrim? Did she not know that in the end she would be alone? Did she think she could throw a boomerang of unreason without it returning home after the years? . She tried to use me in my thirties again, to no avail. I didn’t allow it; The difference between her and me is that I don’t use people, I admit my mistakes and learn from them; I have empathy, even to walk away. I followed my path and she followed hers, if she had one and she was not going into a long drift. She didn’t care about all the damage she caused me because eyes that don’t see, a heart that she is incapable of feeling.
Maybe she watched too much television, she wanted to be like the protagonists of famous series from the late 90s and the 21st century. He believed that what he saw was a mirror, and he wanted to emulate what he saw as if life were having your own house and a partner in each episode, as if the characters that have gone through his existence are only props that are removed from the set, and they forget and then you use them again as you please, as if they were the protagonist of a story and the rest of us played a role, a function that gravitated around them. I have met a lot of people like that. When they discover the truth they refuse to believe it. All of these people begin to awaken relatively from their thirties, as if a veil that kept them blind to selfishness was torn: They discover what their lives have led to and some become pillars of salt remembering when they were young, beautiful and They could take on the world and they date younger people because they need confirmation that they are still beautiful, but they end up hitting the same wall over and over again.
