The Rosie Project, a novel you should definitely read

It was in those moments of boredom that I get on Saturday nights, when I came across . On that list are many books on economics, health and technology. But the one that caught my attention the most was the review of a fiction book that came into his hands through the recommendations of his wife Melinda and, according to Gates, one of the

The novel is called and tells the story of Don Tilman, a brilliant genetics professor who does not know that he has Asperger’s and who has decided that it is time to find a wife and to do so he designs a plan based on evidence. It consists of a 16-page validated questionnaire that will help you find the perfect wife, thus filtering out the tardiness, smokers and drinkers.

However, life causes him to meet Rosie Jarman, a fearless and intelligent woman but with all the characteristics that would disqualify her from the Wife Project. Don helps her in the search for her biological father and it is during this journey, full of complicated and funny situations, that he discovers that the art of love is not in science.

¨My name is Don Tillman, I am thirty-nine years old and I am an Associate Professor of Genetics at the University of Melbourne. My job is well paid, I eat a balanced and regular diet, and my physical condition is optimal. In the animal kingdom, I would have no difficulty mating, but in the human kingdom, I have never managed to have a second date with the same woman. I don’t fully understand the reasons for my failure, and since statistics show that married men are, on average, happier and live longer, I have decided to launch a vital program for me, the Wife Project. To this end, I have created a perfect algorithm that will allow me to exclude unsuitable candidates: smokers, tardiness, disorganized, those who spend too much time on their external appearance… in short, all those who do not meet the strict criteria set forth. stated in the sixteen-page questionnaire that I have prepared. This book is the scientific report—although they have explained to me that it should be called a novel—about the result of my project. Anyone who reads it will discover that the least suitable candidate is called Rosie; And she will also find the answer to a fundamental question: can love change the life of a person, even an individual like me?
