The peculiar photograph of an owl arriving somewhere late

Images of owls are often associated with the mystery of the forests, located in the middle of the hidden branches of the trees, observing from above with their large eyes. Their activity is more nocturnal and they are rarely seen in full sunlight. But there are always exceptional occasions where everything seems to go against everyday life, except that no one notices them, at least until someone has a camera in their possession at the right moment to capture the least expected situations. Photographer Hannie Heere had a stroke of luck and captured an owl that seems to be arriving late somewhere.

We humans often tend to anthropomorphize all creatures, we place them in everyday situations that any person would go through. That is why when in Lewis Caroll’s novel ‘Alice in Wonderland’, the rabbit is seen going from one place to another in a hurry with a watch in hand, it seems more funny than chilling. However, the logic behind it certainly has no reason to exist, which is why it is a story that escapes reality.

The secret life of the forests

There are situations that rarely occur and that evoke similar situations in stories. It can happen that, in the middle of the forest, where no one disturbs nature and where animals live without anyone observing their actions, the most unexpected situations arise that seem straight out of a story. Three bears enjoying a recreational afternoon with their mother, while dancing to the rhythm of the forest melodies, seems more like a fable than a real situation. However, a lover of natural exploration was lucky enough to be positioned at the right moment and with a lens at hand, to capture this situation that was captured in photography.

The same thing happened recently with a little owl that seems to be running late somewhere. Just like the rabbit in ‘Alice in Wonderland’, it seems to run through the green grass in broad daylight. With a striking pose that evokes a person walking in a hurry, the owl makes evident aspects of its body that are rarely seen in these birds. The little one is pristine white and has a fluffy appearance thanks to the fact that it still has its down. Although later its cottony texture will be replaced by feathers as it grows and begins to flap its wings. But what is striking are its long legs that evoke human legs and that can rarely be observed because they cover them with their large plumage.

A morning to train

Before learning to fly, owls work hard on developing their muscles. Only in this way will they have enough strength to flap their large wings in flight, around eight weeks old. And it seems that this little one decided to go out to train that morning and stretch her legs a little. A situation that was captured in a very peculiar snapshot, where it seems that the little owl is walking in a hurry to be late somewhere.
