The meaning of dreaming of flying, falling, being naked…

Psychoanalysis found meaning in dreams as a escape route from the subconscious. One more way, like jokes or slips, to release the most hidden desires that we carry inside.

Furthermore, the discoverer of this psychological technique, Freud, was passionate about finding meanings deeper than what our nocturnal daydreams could express. And for a good part of his life, he dedicated himself to identifying traumas or fixations, most of them of a sexual nature, to the objects that appeared in his patients’ visions.

Subsequently, psychology has evolved just like society. Our way of understanding life has changed, and therefore the feelings and worries that we have are others. And for some reason, there are certain elements that recur in dreams of unrelated people. Five of the most common are the following:

1. Do your teeth drop: Dreaming of teeth falling out of the mouth without explanation is identified with the fear of making a fool of yourself or a lack of self-esteem in terms of physical appearance.

Teeth represent strength, authority, they give us the power to bite, to chew food in order to feed ourselves. They are a tool that facilitates our survival. To dream that we lose them means impotence. We do not feel capable of making ourselves heard, or of having our opinion heard, or of achieving that our goal is met.

2. Dreaming that we fall from a great height: If we dream that we fall from a precipice (most likely when that happens you will wake up from vertigo or just before hitting the ground in your dreams) it is a bad sign. It means that we anticipate problems that we will not be able to control, whether they are business, health or love. There is something that makes us fearful and nervous about the near future, and this concern makes us fall into a tailspin.

3. dream that you drown: As with the two previous cases, dreaming that we are trapped underwater and we run out of breath, or any other type of suffocation, portends fear that someone may hurt you. It is also related to going through a distressing moment in life. If you also ask for help but no one comes to help you, your mind is transmitting a feeling of loneliness that you carry inside. As a general rule, drowning represents the fear that something bad will happen and no one will come to your aid.

4. Dream that you are naked in public: clothing covers our shame and often being well dressed makes us feel more secure and confident. If in your dreams you have been naked in public and you experience it as a traumatic moment, it reflects a damaged self-esteem and fear of making a fool of yourself. It also denotes little self-confidence and that this person is easily influenced.

If, on the other hand, you see yourself naked in your dreams but you feel happy, comfortable, and even more naked people appear but in a relaxed and natural attitude, it means that you feel comfortable with how you are. It is a happy dream that expresses your ability to socialize, to show yourself as you are. You are probably outgoing and enjoy the company of others.

5. Dreaming of flying: This is a soil with the most positive nuances. They are a reflection of a feeling of freedom, of voluptuousness, that you are in a good personal moment and you feel that things are progressing well almost without effort. It is also a prediction of good experiences that are about to come into your life.
