Seville headquarters of the XX National Congress of Hospitals and Health Management –

Of the March 29 and 31 will take place in Seville the twentieth edition of the National Congress of Hospitals and Health Managementorganized by the Spanish Society of Health Managers (SEDISA) and the National Association of Nursing Executives (WALK).

Once again, this forum, the largest national level of health managers -both from the public and private sectors-, will be “a platform for innovation and professionalization in health managementin addition to highlighting the importance of health management as a generator of knowledge and as a decisive lever for economic and social development”as stated Manuel Huerta AlmondPresident of the XX National Congress of Hospitals and Health Management.
This year, the Congress will take place under the motto «How do we continue to progress?”a question that “intends to introduce, on the one hand, the need for health managers to ask themselves about the essential elements that will determine the future of the healthcare system and its institutions, and on the other, the idea that our system is already the result of a long history of success that, in order to continue being so, needs renew their approacheshighlights Manuel Huerta.
And with this goal the XX National Congress of Hospitals and Health Management will revolve around five subject areas:

1.- Improving the healthcare experience
Individualized plans, advanced nursing practices, patient empowerment, citizen participation processes, high resolution, telecare, continuity of care, and therapeutic reconciliation.

2.- Reorienting towards chronic care
Chronicity and polypathology; surpassing the assistance levels; chronic care models; socio-health integration models; and evaluated experiences.

3.- Professionalizing the management function
Competency maps; institutional manager versus clinical manager?; recognition and certification of skills; role of educational institutions; role of management companies; and role of scientific societies.

4.- Adapting and guaranteeing financing
Sustainability crisis or solvency crisis?; legal guarantees of minimum financing?; financing by results or financing of results?; copays; divestment and regionalization; and role of evaluation, accreditation, quality agencies, etc.

5.- Investigating and transferring knowledge
Health and education; research and innovation management models; introduction of new products and processes according to health results; patent management; big data strategy; and evidence at bedside: virtual libraries.

The deadline for sending communications summaries oral or in poster format, which must deal with one of these five themes, is the January 31.
The Spanish Society of Health Managers () is made up of almost a thousand professionals who work in the health sector and who hold a management role in their organizations. Its main objective is to professionalize health management, carrying out projects and activities that contribute to the promotion, development, protection and defense of health services in general, and particularly the study and improvement of managerial and directive functions in the health sector.
For her part, the National Association of Nursing Executives () is a non-profit organization made up of nurses from different professional fields united to work on a common project: the professionalization of nursing managers.
