How to make tuna pie STEP BY STEP (Galician empanada type recipe)

Ingredients

  • 1 puff pastry
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/2 red bell pepper
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 small tomato
  • 1 tbsp. tomato puree
  • 2 cans of tuna
  • 1 small potato
  • 1 pinch of oregano
  • 2 eggs
  • Olives (optional)
  • Sesame seeds
  • Salt, pepper and oil.

Step by Step

  • Chop onionhe morron and the garlic and sauté them in oil. I like them in large pieces, so that they are noticeable in the cake, but they can be finely chopped.
  • Add, when the onion is transparent, the tomato chopped fresh and cook until it turns a dark red color.
  • And here comes the secret from the aunt: for the tuna cake to come out tall, spongy and consistent, you have to add a grated potato. It is done as follows: grate the potato with a fine grater and add it to the sauce. Stir it for a minute until it integrates, no more is necessary.
  • Add to this preparation the tuna and stir until integrated. Also add the tablespoon of mashed potatoes of tomatoes.
  • Incorporate the eggs shakes and season. Add the oregano (very little).
  • Add, if desired, the olives chopped.
  • Place everything in a small pan. The cake will come out high.
  • Close the edges and rain with seeds of sesame above.
