Pink foods that prevent and fight breast cancer

It seems that nature is also campaigning against breast cancer, since many of the pink or reddish foods that it provides us contain nutrients and vitamins that help prevent cancer. And some are even more effective against breast cancer than any other type of this disease.

This reminds us of those foods that, curiously, visually evoke the part of the body they benefit: for example, walnuts, which strengthen the brain, or avocado, which benefits the uterus. This is how nature guides us nutritionally: with clues that seem almost intentional.

As a result of their pigmentation, these pink foods contain anthocyanins and other antioxidants that have anti-cancer activity. If you want to know about other foods recommended to fight and prevent cancer, you can consult the Food for Breast Cancer page.

Pink foods that prevent and fight breast cancer

red cabbage

It is able to protect cells from DNA damage and has been found to promote apoptosis, suppress cell cycle progression, and inhibit angiogenesis of human breast cancer cells.

It inhibits the production of an enzyme called aromatase, which converts androgens to estrogens, effectively reducing the risk of breast cancer that is caused by hormonal imbalances.

Cauliflower

Both the white – more common – and the exotic purple cauliflower have cancer cell suppressors, and like cabbage, they can protect DNA cells from damage.

Radish

Contains fiber, potassium, folic acid and glucosinolates. This latter compound breaks down into substances that prevent cells from becoming cancerous.

Apple

Its color alone indicates that it has antioxidants with anti-cancer activity. But also, apples contain a flavonoid called quercetin, which prevents the growth of breast cancer.

Beetroot

Beet extracts prevent the growth of tumors. This anti-cancer effect is attributed to the presence of betanin, which gives it its peculiar and intense pigmentation.

Sweet Potato

Contains beta-carotene, a compound that reduces the risk of breast cancer. In addition, extracts from potatoes in general also reduce existing breast cancer tumors and prevent the formation of new ones, by repairing cell damage and regulating cell proliferation.

Grapes

They contain antioxidants and selective estrogen receptors that modify it and prevent its levels from increasing.
