Only 3 out of 10 older people consume a balanced breakfast

Despite the fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, older people do not pay enough attention to it. And it is that, although the population between 65 and 74 years is the age group that eats the best breakfast, even so, only 3 out of 10 people eat a balanced breakfast following the recommendations of the experts, that is, including a cereal, a fruit and a dairy. This is revealed by the II Lidl Study – 5 a day on Breakfast Habits in Spain.
In its commitment to sustainability and to promoting healthy lifestyle habits, Lidl promotes the traveling awareness campaign “Breakfast Formula” which, in collaboration with “5 a day”, plans to tour more than 80 Spanish towns in the coming months.
During its tour, the campaign offers various workshops, tips and recommendations to carry out a complete and healthy breakfast. As age progresses it is observed that the time spent eating breakfast increases, to the point that more than 60% of people over 65 spend between 10 and 20 minutes on it. Likewise, people between the ages of 55 and 74 are the ones who spend the most time eating with the family and 86% say they are able to spend quality time with their loved ones.
