This medicine is now available in three presentations of tablets EFG film-coated: Memantine TEVA 10 mg – 112 tablets; Memantine TEVA 20 mg – 56 tablets, and Memantine TEVA 5mg/10mg/15mg/20mg – 28 tablets.
Memantine is a NMDA receptor antagonist of the brain, which participate in the transmission of nerve signals and which are important in the learning and memory. The drug regulates these receptors thus improving the transmission of nerve signals and memory.
Memantine, whose reference brands are Ebixa and Axurais given once a day, should always be taken at the same time, and can be taken with or without food.
With this launch, TEVA expands its vademecum in the central nervous system, an area in which it already has other generic drugs such as antidepressants citalopram, escitalopram, or mirtazapine, antipileptics gabapentin or levetiracetam, or the antimigraine rizatriptan or zolmitriptan, among others.
