NeuronUP Academy: cognitive stimulation in movement disorders

NeuronUP Academy, NeuronUP’s online neurorehabilitation training academy, organizes the free online presentation “Cognitive stimulation in movement disorders: Myths, data and perspectives”which will be given on June 14 at 7:00 p.m. by the neuropsychologist and researcher Saül Martínez-Horta.

Saül Martínez-Horta is neuropsychologist in the Movement Disorders Unit of the Department of Neurology of the where he co-coordinates the monographic consultation of Huntington’s disease and is coordinated by the monographic consultation of minority diseases that occur with movement disorders.

He is also a researcher of the Group of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders of the Sant Pau Biomedical Research Institute and the Center for Networked Biomedical Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases () of the Carlos III Health Institute.

Coordinates, in addition, he Cognitive Phenotype Working Group and he is a member of the scientific advisory board of the European Huntington’s Disease Network, coordinator of the Working Group on Neuropsychology of Movement Disorders and member of the Neuropsychology Section of the Official College of Psychology of Catalonia.

At a private level, he is director of the Neuropsychology unit of the Neurocognitive Diagnosis and Intervention Center of .

His clinical and research activity focuses on movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and especially Huntington’s disease. He has published more than 100 original scientific articles in international indexed journals, accumulating in 2023 an H index of 25 points, 8 book chapters, and has made multiple presentations at national and international conferences.

Saül Martínez-Horta has participated in more than 20 competitive research projects, multiple clinical trials in Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and atypical parkinsonisms.

He is a member of different scientific societies such as the International Movement Disorders Society, the European Huntington’s Disease Network, the Spanish Society of Neurology or the Catalan Society of Neuropsychology, among others. He also collaborates with different training plans associated with the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the UOC and is also a regular reviewer for several first quartile journals in the areas of neurology, psychiatry, neuropsychology and neurosciences.
