The objective on this occasion is to teach the non-professional caregiver small day-to-day actions that many people do not know how to deal with and that with these brief tutorials they have the possibility of train and give the people they care for the best care possible.
Hand in hand with professionals in this video tutorial it is explained how to clean the bladder catheter of patients in the simplest and most appropriate way. Before beginning to clean the bladder catheter, it is advisable to prepare the following materials to be used: gloves, towel, antiseptic solution, stopper for catheter and bag, new bag, scissors, and basin.
Once the material is prepared, the first step is to carefully wash your hands, since a good hygiene is essential when treating a patient. Afterwards, it is advisable to explain to the patient what type of care is going to be performed and, of course, ask for her collaboration so that cleaning the bladder catheter is as comfortable as possible.
After hand washing and the explanation, it is necessary to put latex gloves on your hands to protect against infections or contagion. Already with the gloves on, place a towel under the probe so as not to stain the bed when removing it and replacing it with another. Clean the connections with an antiseptic solution and then disconnect both the tube and the bag.

Immediately after, place a stopper on the probe and bag to prevent leaks and take the new bag to place it hooked to the bed with a support so that it does not move. Once this process is done, make the connection between the probe and the bag, removing the caps and checking that the connections are correct and that there are no knots in them. Finish cleaning the bladder catheter by wrapping the patient and collecting the material used.
