“We went twice a week, three times, they had us since the morning cutting the bridge, or there where the Carrefour de Avellaneda is. We went by train or by bus, they picked us up, and we were there until 5 in the afternoon, all standing there, we also had to go on Saturdays. You had to miss school, you died of heat, of thirst,” she described.
“I realized that it wasn’t worth it, that they were managing us, even the government was using us… but what was happening? My mother was involved there and they kind of brainwash you and also threaten you: ‘If you miss the picket, we’ll get the plan out of you.’”
