Castilla y León expands and improves the Advanced Telecare service

The Junta de Castilla y León has awarded a unique contract at the regional level that guarantees access for all users in the Community to the Advanced Telecare service under equal conditions and that improves the quality of care by adding new proactive services.

This contract has a duration of three years, extendable up to a maximum of five years in total, an award amount of almost 40 million euros and entails, as its main novelty, the implementation and extension of Advanced Telecare.

Local corporations will continue to play an important role in this new model through the CEAS, which will continue to be the reference for citizens as they are the closest Administration. Telecare is free in Castilla y León since January 2021 for those who request it. Currently they are more than more than 42,000 users they enjoy it.

The Advanced Telecare is a benefit of the new 5.0 Dependency Care system that the Junta de Castilla y León is implementing and that is committed to the person centered careputting new technologies at the service of the needs and preferences of each person and improving the care and support received in their own homes by those who usually need support to manage their daily lives, many people in a situation of dependency.

As indicated by the Junta de Castilla y León, Advanced Telecare has two sides:

  • proactive care services
  • introduction of new alarm-based services

As for the proactive care servicesto the two that were already in operation monitoring and support the dependent and his caregiver are joined by the New services follow-up in grieving processes, in situations of unwanted loneliness and isolationin the prevention of special risk situations -mistreatment or risk of suicide- and also in processes of cconvalescence and rehabilitation.

Regarding the new services based on alarms and automatic communicationsextends and generalizes the use of the mobile telecare -with geolocator for attention to situations of need outside the home- and home sensors and detectors that will make it possible to prevent and deal with risk situations in the home, for example, through smoke, gas, flood detectors, presence sensors, door opening sensors or fall detectors inside and outside the home.

The company in charge of the provision will take care of installing the necessary devices and explaining their operation and the permanent monitoring of the person through regular visits and phone callsadapting the intensity and frequency of contacts to the user or their caregiver, depending on their situation and needs.

In this follow-up, users will have the new figure of the reference telemarketer: they will always receive calls from the same operator, which facilitates communication and establishes an affective bond that reinforces the feeling of accompaniment.

All this is complemented by the new help service for managing medical appointments, which includes help with requesting medical appointments and making reminder calls. To this end, digital terminals will be installed in all new applications.

With all these novelties, from the an important growth in the number of users of the new Telecare, until reaching 50,000 by the end of 2025.
