“A letter to a grandfather”, messages of encouragement for the elderly

With the aim of sending messages of encouragement to the elderly who live in residences, many of whom will not be able to be with their families this Christmas, the social start-up Adopta Un Abuelo launches the Christmas campaign “A letter to a grandfather ”.

During the first week of this initiative, Adopta Un Abuelo has received and more than 100,000 letters to send to grandparents in residences from all over Spain. Anyone who wishes can join this campaign, simply by accessing the web and writing a Christmas message that is sent through this platform. The Adopta Un Abuelo Operations team will ensure that All the elderly in the residences receive these messages of encouragement.

In the words of Alberto CabanesCEO and founder of the start up, “We are extremely excited about the thousands of messages of encouragement and affection that they are going to arrive at the residences, which is a sign of the commitment and empathy of society with the elderly”.

Till the date, It has had more than 4,200 participating volunteers who have carried out more than 38,500 hours of accompaniment to 2,970 adopted grandparents. In Spain there are 360,000 elderly people who live in 5,400 residences.

Adopta Un Abuelo has established itself as a technological platform to connect generations, through the accompaniment for calls and video calls with the aim of paying tribute to the elderly and positioning them in the place they deserve, while young people learn values ​​and unique experiences.
