Ecological art, environmental art or ecoart are some of the names by which artistic expression that deals with ecological or environmental issues is known. It also refers to works that use the natural environment to express a theme related to it.
Ecological art seeks to connect the viewer with nature or with some problem that affects the planet through photography, sculpture, painting, dance, theater, literature, etc.
The artists who follow this movement express their feelings about the fragility of nature, seek to raise awareness about the passage of humans on Earth, integrate elements of nature, such as leaves, stones, branches or sand, but above all, they do not contribute to the environmental degradation, so they use eco-friendly materials.
Its origin is attributed to the 1960s when the political and social circumstances that existed at that time began the awakening of awareness about the impact that humans have on the planet. At this time, Land Art emerged, a movement that uses some natural landscapes as a framework and materials without altering the environmental balance.
Among the characteristics of ecological art are:

Among the precursors of this movement are great personalities, such as the Dutch sculptor Herman de Vries, who puts together works with natural elements brought from different parts of the world to highlight the . Also notable is the work of the Scottish sculptor Andy Goldsworthy, who has been developing art in forests and riverbeds for twenty years, with no tools other than his hands.
