What does the delicious Maggi juice contain?

Products and thousands of processed products surround us. Some projects have set out to unravel those unhealthy ingredients, beyond the myths, that processed foods contain; one by one, what do they contain?

The organization El Poder del Consumidor, this time, presents us with a breakdown of the ingredients of the delicious Maggi seasoning juice; Typical to flavor pizzas, pastas, French fries.

Here are the results on 15 ml of a tablespoon:

The generalities:

The label, at least in Mexico, does not contain nutritional information and redirects to an existing page.

Soooo much sodium: a single tablespoon covers 60% of what an adult needs per day (excess of this is linked to hypertension and blood pressure).

Contains IV candy, which has been proven to be a carcinogen.

The particularities:

Sodium:

In a 100 milliliter container it contains 8,400 milligrams of sodium.

Each tablespoon has 1,261 mg, 63% of the sodium that an adult needs per day. The amounts are alarmingly high for such a small portion.

Dyes:

Caramel coloring IV.

It has been classified as carcinogenic in the state of California, in the United States.

Ingredients:

Hydrolyzed vegetable protein from liquid soybeans (usually transgenic), and IV caramel coloring (associated with carcinogenic effects).
