  • First, the use of coffee to moisten the solid layer is the characteristic flavor of this dessert.
  • Second, a solid ingredient that can be a cake or cookies.
  • Third, a cream whose base is eggs beaten with sugar and mascarpone cheese.

Although there are versions that also replace the latter with fresh cheese, presented with a layer of cocoa lightly sprinkled on top of the cake.

Origin of Tiramisu

Tiramisu is a very popular dessert in its homeland, however, it is not a very old dessert, in fact, it is a modern dessert whose origin is attributed to Venice, capital of the Veneto region, in northeastern Italy.

However, there are several versions about its creation, but it is mostly said that it originated in brothels that at that time also had cooks.

This Tiramisu day began to be celebrated in Italy.

According to Arturo Filippini, president of the Toulá restaurant chain. I was going with some friends to the brothels in the city of Treviso and the women who served them offered them a sweet, handing it to them with a phrase “he throws his” in the Venetian dialect and in Italian “you throw your”being the equivalent of “snack” in Spanish.

This being a kind of aphrodisiac, since, at that time, tiramisu was a strengthening sweet and had less cream or similar fats, preventing it from causing fatigue or sleep.

This is where the name “tiramisú” comes from, deriving it from the phrase “ti tira su”, and then starting in 1970, it began to be served at the Toulá restaurant in Milan, using five ingredients: beaten eggs and sugar, Savoiardi sponge cakes ( what is known as stencils or cat’s tongue) soaked in espresso coffee and cocoa powder.
