This is the number of eggs you can eat per week: a superfood that helps you lose weight

Fried, boiled, scrambled, poached… it is clear that they create addiction in any of its forms. Their high levels of protein have made them an essential food in the diet of athletes or in that of anyone who needs to add a little energy to their daily lives.

But being a food that can be cooked in so many ways, there is a risk of consuming it more times than recommended. Because, How many eggs can you eat a week?

The shadow of cholesterol has always been on eggs. However, there is no scientific proof that justifies limiting the consumption of eggs if you lead one and a healthy lifestyle.

A study from the Harvard School of Public Health already concluded in 1999 that eating one egg a day did not influence heart health of the healthy population nor did it increase the risk of suffering a stroke.

Last year, a Spanish investigation confirmed these same results and assured that a moderate consumption of eggs does not increase the risk of suffering from cardiovascular diseases in people at high risk but without previous conditions.

Its authors, the Navarro Health Service and the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health of the University of Navarra, controlled the consumption of eggs in a group of about a thousand volunteers between the ages of 50 and 80 for six years.

How many eggs enter into a ‘moderate consumption’?

The researchers of this study recommend eating a maximum of 4 or 5 eggs a week. Even so, it must be pointed out that this limit depends, more than on the food itself, on how it is cooked.

It is not the same to eat a boiled egg than to have it fried in a lot of oil. In addition, it must also be emphasized that the part of this food that contains the most fatty acids is the yolk, so there would be no danger in consuming only egg white tortillas, as athletes usually do.

But that does not mean that you should do without the yolk to have a healthy diet. The trick is how we combine those eggs: if we mix them with vegetables either wholemeal bread it will always be better than eating them with cheese or meat.
