/p>The Spanish Confederation of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities (COCEMFE) has already launched its Holiday Program 2018which has a total of 39 vacation shifts which will take place between June and December of this year.
The 2018 Vacation Program is made up of three “COCEMFE Special” shifts; 26 shifts destined for beaches, inland tourism and nature; seven shifts destined for islands and three thermalism shifts, with which, in total, More than 1,650 people are expected to participateamong people with disabilities, companions and support staff. In the three ‘Special COCEMFE’ shifts, anyone can participate, regardless of whether they have traveled or will travel during the 2018 Program or its extension.
Regarding the novelties of this programme, this year six new destinations and/or hotel establishments have been included: Comarruga, Lloret de Mar, Aguadulce, Roquetas de Mar and the Ledesma Spa.
Anxo Queirugapresident of COCEMFE, highlights the importance of carrying out actions such as this Vacation Program since “the tourist offer for our social group is quite limited and with higher prices”to which must be added that “Due to lack of accessibility, we are forced to rule out cheaper or even free destinations, such as the homes of friends and family”.
In this sense, Queiruga emphasizes that with the “We want the greatest number of people with disabilities can exercise their right to leisureespecially those who, due to their personal situation or socioeconomic circumstances, would not have the possibility of traveling”.
The Vacation Program of , an entity that brings together more than 1,600 organizations throughout the country, has facilitated since 1986 some holidays accessible on equal terms to people with physical and organic disabilities and their families who find it more difficult to travel, either because of a low income or a high degree of disability. Since this program has been in operation, more than 41,000 people have traveled with COCEMFE.
