The Asturian Isasaweis recipe that looks like an empanada but is not

Isabel Llano, known as Isasaweis, is an expert in making and “fixed”, as she herself says. One of her star dishes is the “trap”. It looks like an empanada, but it is not. It can be filled with different options and solves any lunch or dinner.

Ingredients for the dough:

  • three eggs

  • 140 grams of oil (half a glass)

  • 250 grams of flour

  • 300 ml. milk

  • Half envelope of chemical yeast

  • tablespoon salt

Ingredients for the stuffing:

In this case it is totally optional. You can put some chicken, cod, meat… That’s why it’s a recipe to give something that we already have cooked a spin. If this is not the case, a “foolproof” option is to use for the padding a couple of cans of tuna, a couple of boiled eggs and tomato.

Elaboration

To start you have to put all the ingredients of the dough in a bowl and beat them. Then grease an oven mold and place the dough. You have to put a little less than half and put it in the oven with heat up and down at about 200 degrees for about 5 minutes. once done, We put the filling on top of the entire base, leaving the edges free. Then pour the rest of the dough on top and take it to the oven again for about 20 minutes. The idea is that the golden surface remains.
