Stressed by the ‘bikini operation’? Forget about it and follow the recommendations of the experts

During the winter it is very common to accumulate a few extra kilos due to a routine and some more sedentary lifestyle habits which are usually conditioned by the weather and cold days.

And suddenly, summer arrives and we decide to lose weight in a short time, resorting to diets and certain eating practices that, although they promise immediate results, can put our health at risk.

“Many people end up falling into the trap of following diets with which, supposedly, you are capable of many kilos in a short time and with little effort.

However, these practices are not beneficial for health and, in addition, over time they usually produce the so-called rebound effect,” he explains. Eva M. Bautistanutritionist at BluaU de Sanitas.

“These drastic weight losses often end in failure. The solution is to make important changes in lifestyle, always focusing on well-being and health”, he adds.

Miracle diets can cause serious health problems, such as constipation or kidney problems.

Beware of miracle diets!

In this regard, Lina Roblesa nutritionist at , warns that the lack of nutrients that characterize some of these “miracle diets” can lead to more serious problems, including:

  • The constipation.

  • Vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

  • Uric acid problems.

  • Kidney problems since, according to Robles, excess protein affects the kidney.

Recommendations from nutrition experts

Faced with this situation, Sanitas experts have drawn up a list of guidelines to consider in order to carry out an effective and healthy diet, which will help us lose weight without putting our health at risk:

  • A varied diet with local products. The best diet is always the Mediterranean diet. If we add to this the consumption of zero kilometer and seasonal products, we will be choosing the best option to eat healthy every day and notice changes in the body. In addition, the chosen diet must provide all food groups at their recommended frequency, to avoid possible nutritional deficits.
  • Control the distribution of calories. Calorie intake per day should be based on the characteristics of the person and respecting the process of hunger and satiety. In this way, the distribution of calories must be distributed throughout the day in the different meals.
  • healthy cooking. That is, avoiding fried foods is going to be essential. Instead, it is advisable to steam, grill, roast or bake. And of course always opting for ‘liquid gold’, instead of other products such as butter.

Eating fruits and vegetables reinforces the hydration of the body.

  • Hydration is another essential aspect. In this regard, experts advise drinking throughout the day, respecting the thirst process and including fruits and vegetables that help us increase their consumption, a sufficient quantity to be well hydrated and to be able to go to the bathroom correctly.

Otherwise, toxins may build up more and make it more difficult to lose weight.

And another important issue, carbonated drinks, alcohol and soft drinks should only be consumed on special occasions.

  • Incorporate physical activity into our routines. Exercising weekly, or even daily, is essential to keep the body active and thus contribute to losing kilos in a healthy way.

If we have not moved much during this winter, we should not start doing a very intense activity. Better to start with activities that we can do day by day without effort, that motivate us so that the practice lasts over time. In this regard, it is a very good option to start activating the body and incorporate this exercise into the routine.
