Special: ABA in the treatment of autism (PDF)

There are hundreds of treatments for autism spectrum disorders, but only a handful of them have the scientific robustness necessary to be recommended as therapy. One of the most important and recognized treatments worldwide is ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis), a type of therapy that systematically applies the principles of learning to increase, decrease, maintain or generalize certain behaviors that are targeted.

Last year our autism columnist, Mauro Colombo, wrote three introductory articles about ABA, its principles, characteristics, applications and evidence. These articles represent an important contribution to the field of clinical child psychology — especially those who work with children diagnosed with autism — and therefore we decided to create a document in PDF format so that all readers can download, print and share it in classes or with his colleagues.
