The best thing (in my opinion) is that they talk seriously and both are honest. As if he seriously wants to try something again and above all give you another chance, and that you are more than willing to earn his trust again. I don’t know the severity of what you’ve done, but it all depends on how that conversation works for you. If at the end of everything and even if you really make a change to gain his trust, but he is still distrustful, perhaps it is time to accept that you made a mistake by lying to him and even though it may hurt, you should walk away and move on.

You lied to him friend, lack of trust breaks everything, so do him a favor and stop making him suffer, forget about him and look for someone else. Don’t lie anymore in a relationship. And start thinking about things, maybe the fault is not 100% yours, cheer up
