Paranormal Activity 3 is set in 1988 when sisters Kristi and Katie are 5 and 9 years old respectively. The film explains the paranormal events that the girls experienced when they were little (and that they do not remember in the first two films).
Paranormal Activity 2 is set in 2005, we see how Dan and Kristi arrive home after having had Hunter. Ali films them arriving home and we see Martine, the cleaning lady/nanny coming down the stairs to greet the baby. As she goes down, she can see a photo of Micah and Katie hanging on the wall of the stairs. It is the same photo that appears destroyed in Paranormal Activity 1 by the evil spirit of the house.
Shortly after we see Katie as she has gone to drop off her grandmother Lois’s old things at Kristi and her husband Dan’s house. Inside the box is a necklace and old videos that Dennis recorded in 1988 and some from 1992. A year later, Kristi has already given birth to her son Hunter and we see how her house has been broken into. All the rooms are upside down except Hunter’s, but the only thing that has been stolen is the necklace and the video box. Shortly after, strange things start happening at Kristi and Dan’s house.
She has just moved in with her boyfriend Micah and it is set in approximately 2006. When strange things start happening at home, Katie confesses to Micah that she and Kristi experienced paranormal events when they were little, it happened again when she was 13 and now it seemed to resurface again.
He tells her that he feels like he always has a paranormal presence. Micah then starts filming the entire house during the night and Katie hires a medium to help her but the medium tells her that she specializes in ghosts and not demons. Everything starts to escalate when she finds a photo of herself as a child in the attic (which was burned by Dan in the 2nd movie). Kristi and Dan visit her 3 weeks after the events that occurred at her house (in the second movie) but they don’t tell Katie anything when she confesses what she is experiencing. (2009)
After hearing the noises of Katie killing Micah and someone coming up the stairs, Micah’s body is suddenly thrown into the camera and Katie is seen behind him. It ends with Katie approaching the camera with an evil smile. Double scare!
The next day at night is supposedly when the final scene of the second film occurs: Katie shows up at Kristi’s house, kills her along with Dan, and kidnaps Hunter.
It tells the story of a family with 2 children: Alex and Wyatt (adopted) who have a neighbor who has a son, Robbie, the same age as Wyatt. Robbie’s mother falls ill and is taken to the hospital and Alex and Wyatt’s parents decide to take him in for a while. This is when everything sinister begins.
It’s been five years since Katie (Katie Featherston) murdered her sister and disappeared with her newborn nephew, Hunter. Now, a new family is about to fall prey to nightmarish terrors. A mysterious accident leads young Alex (Kathryn Newton) and her family to become foster caretakers for Robbie, a creepy neighbor boy. Cameras installed in Alex’s house capture the sinister events that reveal Robbie’s arrival.
Jesse’s neighbor is part of the same coven as Lois, Katie and Kristi’s grandmother. In Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones explain how witches mark pregnant women so that they sacrifice their first-born male children in exchange for power and money.
Katie and Kristi’s case is different. Lois is supposed to be marked but she never has more than one daughter, Katie and Kristi’s mother, so the demon watches over the family until the first-born son appears. In Paranormal Activity 3, Kristi gets to see the demon and interact with it and Lois insists to her daughter that she have more children but she tells her that she doesn’t want more from her. This makes Lois do without her and stay with her granddaughters. The demon follows them until Kristi has a son in Paranormal Activity 2. But the child is saved as he reappears in Paranormal Activity 4 until Katie manages to kidnap him to supposedly give him to the demon.
Ryan and Emily move to a new house with their 7-year-old daughter Leila. There they find a mysterious video camera that records strange presences. Furthermore, Leila begins to talk to an imaginary friend and behave in disconcerting ways. All of this is the beginning of a nightmare come true, as an evil and supernatural entity begins to terrorize them.
