Miga sandwiches are a traditional Argentine recipe for parties, birthdays or toasted to accompany a snack or breakfast. This crumb bread is similar to sliced ​​bread, although a little less moist, so it is normally accompanied with mayonnaise or spreadable cheese.

Ingredients

  • 250 ml of water
  • 1 spoon of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk powder
  • 25g of fresh yeast or 8g of dry yeast
  • 50g unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Prepare your toast with homemade breadcrumbs.

We place the flour in a bowl and we make a crown in the middle, pour the sugar, the milk powder and the dry yeast. If you use fresh yeast, we mix it previously with the water. We add the water in the middle and mix a little so that it is integrated with the yeast.

Let it rest for about 20 minutes until it ferments. Add the white butter, lemon juice and salt on the side, avoiding direct contact with the ferment. We begin to mix everything until we form a dough.

We will place the buns side by side with the cut side up in an oiled bread mold with a lid. We cook in an oven at 180º for 40-45 minutes. We let it cool on a rack well. covered for at least 24 hours to prevent it from falling apart when cutting. We cut all the edges and with the crumb we cut thin slices with a smooth knife, our crumb bread is ready!
