How to make real Mexican tacos step by step

Meat tacos

Ingredients for 10 meat tacos

  • 250 grams of meat: it can be breast, buttock, whichever you like the most
  • 1 medium red onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 fresh chili (optional)
  • 1/2 red pepper or bell pepper
  • 1/2 green bell pepper or bell pepper
  • Juice of 1 lime or lemon
  • 1 medium tomato
  • Oregano
  • Dried chili (to taste)
  • Salt and pepper
  • Cilantro
  • neutral oil

How to make meat tacos

  • Cut the bell peppers and onion into julienne strips, the garlic and chili very finely and the tomato into cubes. Reserve separately.
  • Cut the meat into strips and season with salt and pepper in a bowl, add half of the lime or lemon juice and let it marinate for about 20 minutes.

If you want, in this step you can do whatever magic you like to give flavor to the meat: add mustard, a splash of beer… Whatever you want. The idea is that the meat tacos are very tasty so anything goes.

  • In a frying pan, add a splash of oil, the dried chili and the oregano and heat for 2 or 3 minutes. Add the garlic and chili and fry for a few more minutes.
  • Add the meat and sauté. After 5 minutes, halfway through cooking, add the tomato and finish cooking.

Ingredients (10 chicken tacos)

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • Juice of 1 lime or lemon
  • a little parsley
  • 1 green onion
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • Dried chili, to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

How to make chicken tacos

  • Cut the breast into strips and marinate for a little while with the lime juice, the finely chopped garlic, the dried chili and the salt and pepper.
  • Heat the pan and add a splash of olive oil along with the cumin.

Vegetarian tacos

When making vegetarian tacos, I don’t follow a recipe, I like to sauté the vegetables I have at home. Sometimes I add mushrooms, or tofu… Everything! Another thing I like to do is sauté the different vegetables separately, so that not all tacos are the same and everyone adds what they want.
