‘Sea room’ is the new space created by the Hospital del Mar for its patients. Those admitted to the Surgery service can now enjoy the new waiting room designed for them, their families and companions. A co-creation project in which the center and the patients themselves have participated.
He hospital of the sea opens a new space for hospitalized patients, designed according to the preferences expressed by the patients themselves in different processes participation and co-creation organized by the center, an initiative that has materialized thanks to the donation of the Friends of the Hospital del Mar Foundation. The project contemplates the transformation of all the waiting rooms of the Hospital del Mar following this line.
‘Sala Mar’ is the new space created by the Hospital del Mar for those admitted to the Surgery service, designed according to the preferences of the patients themselves
The initiative has its origin in the co-creation processes launched to know the needs and experiences of the users of the center, to identify possibilities for improvement and for the use and design of spaces and equipment. In this sense, the conceptualization of living rooms is based on understanding these spaces as meeting, disconnection and relaxation areas for the sick and for their companions, with the philosophy of offer them an area where they feel at home.
A design that looks at the Mediterranean Sea
The ‘Sea room’ has been designed with warm colors, comfortable furniture, compartmentalized areas and spaces designed for conversation, reading or simply to enjoy moments of intimacy. And all this with some extraordinary views of the Mediterranean Sea.
The interior design of the project has been directed by and the project has been possible thanks to the donations made by people
anonymous and solidary that together with the have the purpose of improving the physical, emotional and social well-being of patients and their families.
The Fundació Amics de l’Hospital del Mar, with the collaboration of the Nous Cims Foundationalready had a similar first experience, Sun SEAthe waiting room transformed into a living room for patients waiting to receive the chemotherapy treatment.
It is a therapeutic environment designed based on scientific evidence to care for people through emotional interior design (ergonomic, sustainable and ethical furniture, nature and vegetation, aromas and textures) and the dialogue between art and health. The design is made up of two spaces that are interrelated: one designed as a waiting room and the other as a multipurpose area where workshops and activities can be held.
