Guided meditation: visualization to find calm

The intention of most spiritual practices is to realize that we are something much more unlimited than our body, our emotions and our thoughts.

Once we are aware of this, the challenge is keep in touch with that deep being and unlimited that is sometimes hidden under the layers of our personality and physical perception of the world and ourselves. That what I call being unlimited is your state of peace and inner calm deeper and more authentic, the one that does not depend on external situations to manifest itself.

When we are in direct contact with him, the sensation may resemble experiencing a wide space of benevolent beauty that surrounds everything and of which we are a part. It is a space that kindly welcomes all the experiences that arise in it without disturbance, attachment or resistance to them.

Identification with this state can be worked on in many different ways, and In the guided meditation that I have created today I use a visualization, which is a wonderful technique to delve into our inner world.

The power of visualizations

Visualizations are widely used in therapy and, both in my guided meditations and in my individual sessions, play a very relevant role.

Images speak the same language as our unconscious and they serve us to create a connection between him and our most conscious part. That is why using them in our inner explorations can have a wonderful effect on both levels.

We can use visualizations to relive a past situation and thus be able to process in the present moment the emotional charge related to it. And we can also use them, as in this case, to connect with our internal resources or our inner harmony through images that we associate with it, as if it were a window at our disposal that we can open to access them.

Once we are in touch with our resources, we are in contact with a different perception of our reality, more positive and with more possibilities.

Guided meditation to find your mental and emotional calm

In this Guided Meditation, I connect you with your depth through the image of a lake. I hope you enjoy it and that I can support you.

  • Sit in a comfortable posture and close your eyes.
  • Observe for a few moments the natural flow of your breath as it is at the moment, without changing anything.
  • Also observe your inner state at this moment, what is present in you. Be aware of the thoughts and emotions present and the sensations they produce in you. And observe them for a few moments with curiosity and openness.
  • Now you can visualize yourself as a deep lake.
  • Observe the surface of that lake: unstable and changeable, subject to external factors such as the wind. This is the lake visible part of yourself, and the part that is usually most present and noticeable.
  • Now you can dive into that lake, traversing that surface. It’s a lake you can breathe in, so you don’t have to worry about that. Feel here the solidity of silence and the calm of the immense depth of the lake.
  • From this place in the depth of your calm and undisturbed lake, you can observe the changing surface. Realize that this surface is a tiny part of your lake that has no effect on the rest of its immense depth. And feel what it feels like to be aware of it and to observe it from this place in you.
  • When you feel it, at your own pace, you can open your eyes, bringing the awareness of that depth into your life.
