Fundació Vella Terra opens a residence for people with disabilities

Vella Terra Foundation culminates his project in the municipality of Gurb (Barcelona) with the launch of a new residence for people with physical disabilities and behavioral disorders. It is a living unit for 12 people that combines private rooms and common areas, based on the home model.

After more than 12 years since the first conversations with the Generalitat, this project of Vella Terra Foundationa residence for people with physical disabilities and behavioral disorders in the municipality of Gurb (Osona) one kilometer from Vic, a kit arranged with the Generalitat.

The facilities have been designed to promote maximum autonomy of the users and promote their re-integration in a non-institutional community environment, counting for this with facilities such as different workshops, a gym or computer roomamong other services.

With the launch of this resource, Vella Terra Foundation makes a determined commitment to rehabilitationsince the center has a Occupational Therapist and a Physiotherapistin addition to having the technical support from the Guttman Institute. On the other hand, the team of the new residence also has the experience accumulated in recent years in the management of “challenging behaviors” both for people with Intellectual Disabilities and in the Specialized Support Units for the elderly (USE) in its four residences for the elderly in Catalonia.

With this new kit, this Foundation continues with the working both in the field of the elderly, as well as in the Intellectual Disability, Physical Disability or Mental Illnessalways focusing on supporting and accompanying People’s Life Projects.
