And what happens when dreams are not fulfilled? – Geriatric

/p>v>When we reach a certain age, it is common to look back and reflect on those dreams that we have fulfilled and those that have not. Inés Catala BorredaGraduated in psychology with a master’s degree in psychopathology, neuropsychology and health, addresses in this article the feeling of “failure” that unfulfilled floors can lead to.

And what happens when dreams are not fulfilled?

Dreams bring out the best in ourselves, they make us improve ourselves, we invest time in ourselves, thinking about our abilities, our resources, and that makes us get to know ourselves better and love the small details that make us be ourselves. Our desires, our desires and our illusions make up a series of changes in ourselves that push us to evolve and strive for getting them.
These dreams have the advantage of never coming alone, they come together with special sensations covered in illusions, expectations, vague emotions, hopes, and ideal moments. Dreams make us live, they transport us to a place in our imagination where the impossible does not exist, where limits are crossed and where borders are overthrown.
But what happens if, at the end of the trip, dreams are not achieved?
If after putting the soul to achieve a dream it turns out that there is no consolation prize, we will be, at least, frustratedbecause we have stopped doing things that we liked to achieve it or instead we have done things that we would never have done to achieve it.

The reading of this situation is always that of failure: We are not worth anything because we are not able to achieve what we set out to do and we come to think that we are not even capable of spreading toast in the morning. We only see the loss of not obtaining what we have visualized for so long and perhaps that is the mistake. A mistake made involuntarily, blinded by the greatness of our dream and by the opinion of others. We fear that we have failed them and we think that they cannot be proud of us when it is just the other way around.
we can be really proud of ourselves when we dream of what makes us feel alive and we take risks to achieve it. Not all of us take this step, not all of us are capable of jumping into the void and fighting for what we dream of.
Also, when we regret not having achieved what we wanted, we are ignoring everything we have achieved since we decided to jump. The truth is that at the end of the road, we are not the same ones who started it, something has changed, something big has happened and that is that we have put aside our fears, those that trap us and do not let us move forward.
During the process, surely, we have learned so many things that are worthwhile, we have met people who have surprised us or we have established unbreakable bonds with people around us who undoubtedly pay all the tolls we have encountered.
The magic is not in what we stop being, in what we stop earning or in what we will never live for not having reached where we wanted, but in what has made us reach the point of brushing our fingers against what we were chasing. Thanks to this we have a suitcase full of learning that will help us form new challenges. Challenges that perhaps on this occasion we will achieve or perhaps not, but that will surely bring us life, give us light and make us braver, better people and feed our souls with the green color of hope.
“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do keep moving forward” Martin Luther King Jr.
