7 Methods to combine colors correctly

Colors give energy, strength and vitality to our daily lives, therefore, Combining colors appropriately is important.

With the correct combination of colors we provide great visual harmony, both in decoration and in outfits and design in general, and although the color can be taken into account, there are methods that make the task easier.

How to combine colors?

There are some great and very practical tricks that you probably didn’t know about, and you can keep them in mind when combining colors. To explain them, we will use color wheels. Let’s see:

Shades of the same color

Placing a couple of shades or several of the same color is a very basic and functional way to combine colors. Each color can vary in tones, from the lightest to the darkest, and regardless of the case, they will look balanced.

Complementary combination

Complementary colors, or rather, contrasting colors, are those that we can see located on opposite sides of the color wheel. In this way, each one has a leading role as a team.

Color triad

Combining three colors that create harmony can be complicated. The triad of colors consists of combining precisely three of these, efficiently, so we will select those that are opposite in a triangle shape at the same distance.

Complementary and triad

We will take as reference the two ways of combining colors explained above, since they will be three complementary colors. What we will do, in this case, is set a color like purple, and we will take the two colors on the left and right of their counterpart, which in this case are yellow and orange.

Analog combination

We will take advantage of the color wheel to point one, and combine one to four more of them that are next to it to provide a good impression. For example, if we choose light blue, we have the option of combining it with green and blue, or with green and purple.

color tetrad

As is easy to assume, it is the combination of four colors. Select one that you like, such as blue, and create, from here, a rectangle.

Combination in square

For this, four colors are also combined. Instead of making a rectangle on the color wheel, what we will make is a square.
