World Day for Rare or Orphan Diseases –

Yesterday, February 28, the International Day of Rare Diseases (also called orphan or low prevalence) was commemorated worldwide. On this day, the aim is to create awareness in the entire community about the existence of these diseases and the impact it generates in the lives of patients and their families who accompany the process.

In Colombia, an orphan disease is considered to be one that is chronically debilitating, serious, life-threatening and has a prevalence of less than 1 per 5,000 cases presented.
