To lose weight in a healthy way

Why 90% of diets fail? Because they are extreme and lead to losing kilos quickly, but due to the “rebound effect” they recover just as quickly. Also, with diets, more important than losing weight is sustaining yourself.

What is worrying is that these extreme regimes put health at risk by producing imbalances in metabolism, with alterations in sugar levels and energy at the cellular level, with disastrous effects on all body systems.

It is estimated that seven out of ten people gain a few extra kilos during the end of the year. 80% undergo diets that do not achieve the desired objective and put their health at risk.

“The first thing is to be aware that there is no magic method to lose weight. That it is a process, a path that requires commitment to oneself to do what needs to be done and reach the proposed goal”, says the doctor Sandra Alfaronutritionist, Medical Center.

According to the nutritionist, then it is necessary to learn to identify which are the foods with excess calories, excess toxins or xenobiotics, which may be responsible for the increase in body fat and inflammatory factors that alter the metabolic balance

For Dr. Alfaro, it is important to recognize, in these foods, simple sugars, such as sweeteners, fried foods or foods with a high fat content, sugar, carbohydrates, in a preparation room.

“Like, for example, those found in a bakery, in sauces, in desserts, in ice cream, among others,” says the nutritionist.

When you learn to recognize foods, it is easier to change them for others with fewer calories, that are high in nutrient density and that also provide us with satisfaction when eating.

It is important to know, for example, that the consumption of liquor, culturally very common, provides a very significant amount of calories, similar to the consumption of fat.

“The body was made for movement, cells require movement, like systems and organs and the whole body, so it is very important to practice daily physical activity, to balance the body’s metabolism and manage to spend, in this way, accumulated fat”, notes Dr. Alfaro.

The specialist explains that water consumption is very important because 60 to 70% of the body is water, which allows us an adequate state of hydration that contributes to a balanced metabolism. Thus it is easier to reduce the percentage of fat and be an ideal support in physical activity.

“In addition, an adequate state of hydration, in addition to being an ideal support in physical activity, is a fundamental aid for proper kidney function,” adds Dr. Alfaro.

Finally, the nutritionist highlights as essential, in this process, the management of emotions at work, in relationships and in the family, since stress from the environment “can cause anxiety about eating, especially high-calorie foods, that they do not contribute to weight loss ”, emphasizes the specialist.
