The multidisciplinary team of Vertices Psychologistsmade up of psychologists, doctors and psychiatrists, in our centers in Madrid and the , in Las Rozas, Pozuelo, Majadahonda, Villalba, Galapagar, Torrelododnes, El Escorial and Boadilla, we diagnose and treat the different types of sleep disordersintervening both psychologically and medically, through the application of third generation therapeutic techniques and advanced psychotherapy.

The most frequent sleep disorders that are usually observed, both in the adult population and in children and adolescents, are:

  • Insomnia: It occurs when sleep is insufficient, restless, of poor quality, or it is not restorative sleep that provides rest.

  • Restless Leg Syndrome: People who suffer from it need to move their legs in order to interrupt uncomfortable sensations.

  • Sleep apnea: The person makes several pauses in breathing or has shallow breathing during sleep, producing insufficient oxygenation in the metabolism.

  • Night terrors: There is a sudden, abrupt and terrified awakening, with great feeling of anxiety and restlessness.

  • Enuresis: The person wets the bed during sleep. Although it is more common in children, some adults also suffer from it.

  • Narcolepsy: This disorder occurs when people have a state of sleepiness throughout the day, regardless of whether they have slept the correct hours the night before, and it can also present as a sudden dream that causes the person to fall asleep at inappropriate times.

  • Somnambulism: People who have it can walk and do other activities while asleep.

Therapy and treatment for sleep disorders

Although each type of Sleep disorder is different and each person manifests it in a different way, the therapeutic intervention of Vertices Psychologists works holistically both mentally and physically. The psycho-body therapy manages to take full advantage of all the possibilities of the organism, multiplying its effectiveness by adding it to other techniques that are used to treat sleep disorders, such as pharmacological or hospital techniques, thus improving the quality of life of the individual, his family and their social environment.

Since sleep is essentially an automatic mechanism, outside of the person’s voluntary control, appropriate treatments to restore dysfunctional mechanisms focus on:

To begin with the first stage, at we focus on achieving the following:

  • Get some conditions physiological appropriate for the patient

  • Teach the patient to maintain a ambient conducive to sleep

  • It will achieve a physical and cognitive deactivation of the patient

Finally, sleep automatism can only be recovered if the above mechanisms and techniques are achieved automatically and without any effort, this being achieved when the patient is trained in stimulus control.
