With the Award for the “Best in Latin America in its specialty”, the doctor, nutritionist of the Medical Centerwithin the framework of “XL International Health Congress 2018”which was fulfilled in San José, Costa Rica.
The recognition was made by the “International Organization for Training and Medical Research, IOCIM”which each year recognizes the best in each country, “for their contribution to society, through work and scientific research.”
“We make a very exhaustive selection of professionals in each country, according to the jobs that impact the health and quality of life of their communities and we bring them here so they can share their experiences and replicate them in other countries,” said the cardiologist, Carmen Arelis De Los Santos, president of IOCIM.
According to the President of the International Medical Organization, an analysis was made of the resume of the nutritionist of the Medical Center and a rich experience was found in the last 25 years, which has had an extraordinary impact on the community where he works. that is, the health and life of patients.
Indeed, Dr. Alfaro’s work was recognized for her work in nutrition programs with minors, in schools and colleges, with obesity patients, at risk of serious illness and death, and with high-performance athletes, specifically, with the inferiors of the Club América, conde achieved, based on education and planned dietary programs, players of great physical stature and highly competitive, who later made it to the Colombian National Team and to big clubs in Europe.
“The doctor has done a wonderful job in her city, in her country, with a lot of dedication and study, a scientific contribution to society, which is what this Award recognizes. An effort and delivery of her knowledge, for the benefit of health and quality of life, which we value, which we seek to be known and replicated in other areas of Latin America”, said Dr. De Los Santos.
“I feel very honored, it is recognition for Colombia, for Valle del Cauca, for Cali and for my institution, the Medical Center, where we are working on a day-to-day basis, to care for and preserve life. It is recognition for the entire medical team that works with me,” said the award-winning nutritionist.
The specialist is currently working on a method to combat obesity and overweight, based on education and establishing healthy lifestyle habits in the patient, which contemplate the emotional state. In the harmony between the body and the spirit, in the enjoyment of life in each instance, which was also highlighted by the International Congress, meeting in San José, Costa Rica.

The doctor is a nutritionist from the University of Antioquia, a biochemist from the Universidad del Valle, with a master’s degree in clinical nutrition from UNINI, Mexico. She is currently a university professor and works with research groups in North America.
