In an emotional visit to children with cancer, in the service of Bone marrow transplantHer Royal Highness, Princess Dina Mired, of Jordan, who is in Colombia, highlighted the quality of the highly specialized medical groups, the human quality of care and the modern facilities.

The Princess, also President of the International Union for the Fight Against Cancer, UICC, during the tour, deviated from the protocol, approached the children, caressed them, smiled at them and took photos with them and with their parents.

His Highness, during the tour, was accompanied by the General Manager, Raphael Gonzalez Molina and by the Medical Manager, William Duarte.

“She was very warm, very kind and caring with the patients. She asked about our work with the children, about our results, about our medical and technological capacity. The princess left very satisfied and for us it was an honor”, says the doctor, coordinator of the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant, of the Medical Center.

The Princess learned that the Medical Center has an installed capacity of 17 cubicles, of which 9 are for adults and 8 for pediatrics. That between 2009 and 2018, 168 transplants were performed. And of the 79 transplants in 2017, 30 were in children.

So far this year, 32 transplants have been performed, 16 adults and 16 children.

After visiting the most delicate children, among transplanted and those close to transplantation, he toured the Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy Service, where he also had access to patients and medical groups, with whom he spoke and was able to learn about the medical technologies available for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

“We are honored by such an important visit, considering that she is the representative of the UICC, the most important entity in the world in the fight against cancer. We are pleased to have left the best impression of our work with the children,” said Dr. William Duartemedical manager, of the Medical Center.

At the end of the visit, accompanied by the manager, Rafael González Molina, the Princess, unveiled a plaque in her honor and signed the book as Illustrious Visitor, before leaving the Institution, always smiling and satisfied for having learned about human services, of high quality and modern facilities, of the Medical Center.
