Coronavirus: Times of change –

If coincidences do not exist, what is the meaning of the current situation? What change does life demand of us? What should we learn from it?

We live in times of change, times of upheaval with very different effects and meanings depending on who experiences it. However, as a society and as a system we can make our own reflections about what we should learn from the crisis unleashed by the coronavirus. The situation has forced us to to stop asking ourselves what we need from the world and start reflecting on what the world needs from us.

It seems that nature is resting from us, it is experiencing its particular quarantine of contamination, overexploitation and the lack of respect to which we have subjected it. It is a time to cooperate instead of competing, to start acting from awareness and coherence. It is time to really understand that and that change begins within each human being.

We have remembered that we are not separate from our surroundings, we never really were, but we had forgotten.

This circumstance makes us understand that there are no special beings, we are all part of the same system and we must collaborate as a society in order to keep it safe and sound. It is not about protecting ourselves or staying at home just to save our lives, but also to protect the most vulnerable people in our society. The elderly, people with chronic pathologies, people without resources, without healthcare or without a home. We cannot forget that society is a living system and that a chain resists what its weakest link can endure.

We already lived before the state of alert began, but we have needed all this to happen to be able to realize. As in the , without silences there would be no melody. And this silence that inhabits the streets will shape and foster a harmony that the world was needing. Only those who are open to understanding that stability is an illusion and that nature is changeable and uncontrollable will be able to adapt to life itself.

As Miguel Delibes wrote in his work “La partida” “Why if one knows how to swim, he floats without moving and when he doesn’t know how, he sinks? – Fear weighs heavily, son ».

And so it is what makes the difference, what turns an opportunity into a misfortune is precisely fear. The fear of loneliness, lack of freedom, change, uncertainty, contagion and death.

We are required to exercise responsibility, self-inquiry and coherence.

One equals all human beings, regardless of their race, their ideology, their situation or their condition.. People who want to go home and cannot, perhaps understand refugees a little better, those who suffer from confinement, perhaps better understand those confined, those who miss their equals, perhaps better understand the forgotten…

Life speaks to us, and does not expect words or promises in response, expects behaviors and actions resulting from a change of . We cannot allow fear or uncertainty to hide from us the possibility of transcendence and change that we have before us.

When you come out of that storm, you won’t be the same person who got into it. That’s what this storm is about.”
